About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About The Role
This is a pivotal senior leadership role at the heart of our Adult Social Care system. As Deputy DASS, you will work alongside and deputise for the Director of Adult Social Services to shape vision, lead transformation, and ensure resilient, compliant, high-performing services across the borough.
You will provide strategic and operational oversight across assessment and care management services, safeguarding, locality-based teams, and integrated pathways. You will champion co production, strengths-based practice, and innovation, ensuring residents’ voices are central to service design and delivery.
You will embed a high performance culture while ensuring statutory compliance, safeguarding excellence, and robust governance. You will play a key role in delivering transformation programmes, driving CQC improvement, and strengthening workforce development. The role also leads strategic budget planning and supports delivery of the Medium Term Financial Strategy for a £110m portfolio.
A key focus will be leading Haringey’s contribution to the Neighbourhood Health Service, embedding Adult Social Care within place-based models of integrated care. You will work closely with partners across the Integrated Care Board (ICB), NHS, Primary Care, voluntary sector, and internal council services to deliver seamless, community-centred support.
This is a unique opportunity to shape a whole-system approach to Adult Social Care, influence strategic and operational decision-making, and drive meaningful change for our residents.
About The Team
You will be joining a dynamic and high-performing Adult Social Care service at the heart of Haringey’s Adults, Housing and Health directorate. The service brings together a diverse, multidisciplinary workforce of over 300 colleagues, spanning locality-based social work teams, the Adult Social Care Front Door, safeguarding, Independence and Early Intervention services, and specialist provision for residents with learning disabilities and mental health needs. Together, these teams deliver vital statutory functions, including Care Act assessments, safeguarding, and strengths-based, person-centred support, with a strong focus on promoting independence and improving outcomes for residents.
Working as part of a collaborative and forward-thinking leadership team, you will operate across the whole Adult Social Care system, partnering closely with corporate services such as Finance, HR, Digital and Business Intelligence to drive performance, innovation and sustainability. You will also play a key role in shaping integrated, place-based care, working alongside the NHS, Integrated Care Board, housing, public health and the voluntary sector to deliver neighbourhood models of care. This is a highly connected and influential role within a complex system, offering the opportunity to lead at scale, drive transformation, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of Haringey residents.
About You
You will be a dynamic, visible and values driven leader with the credibility and experience to operate at a strategic corporate level.
You Will Bring
This role requires ambition, resilience, political awareness and strategic clarity. In return, you will join a supportive and collaborative senior leadership team and have the opportunity to make a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of Haringey residents.
