Cost Accountant – Temporary Full Time

Cost Accountant (6-Month Temp Contract / FTC)
Location: Saffron Walden (Hybrid – circa 2 days per month onsite, remainder remote)
Salary: Equivalent to £55,000-£60,000 FTE (or competitive day rate)
Start Date: ASAP

Robert Half is delighted to be partnering with a long standing client in Saffron Walden to recruit an experienced Cost Accountant for an initial 6-month temporary contract. This opportunity has arisen to provide cover for an internal secondment and offers a flexible hybrid working model with limited onsite presence required.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional with strong cost accounting experience who enjoys partnering with operational stakeholders and supporting business performance through high-quality reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and associated reporting packs
• Business partnering with heads of internal cost centres to review spend, variances, and performance
• Ownership of cost centre reporting and analysis
• Supporting project costing activity, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of project spend
• Involvement in the biannual forecasting process
• Delivery of ad hoc analysis, reporting requests, and finance improvement projects
• Supporting wider finance team priorities during the contract period

Candidate Profile

• Strong, demonstrable experience in cost accounting is essential
• Open to QBE, part-qualified, or fully qualified candidates (ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent)
• Previous experience producing management accounts and partnering with non-finance stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Able to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong Excel and systems experience
