About Haringey
Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.
Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.
About The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed tutor to plan and deliver high‑quality, well‑structured learning sessions within the community. You will design stimulating and challenging sessions that contribute to overall course objectives, supported by effective planning, diagnostics, and evaluation through Schemes of Work and session resources.
You will ensure that learning goals are appropriate to the needs and levels of learners, supporting them to successfully achieve their RARPA objectives with robust and moderated evidence. The role also involves monitoring and addressing learner attendance, punctuality, and behaviour to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Working both independently and collaboratively, you will contribute to the development of courses, teaching materials, and learner documentation such as handbooks. You will also complete timely and accurate reporting to meet funder requirements, including course evaluations, Schemes of Work, and learner tracking information.
About The Team
You will be part of a dedicated and supportive community learning team committed to widening participation and improving outcomes for adult learners. The team works collaboratively to design relevant, engaging courses that respond to community needs while meeting quality and funding requirements. We value flexibility, shared learning, and continuous improvement. Team members support one another through collaboration, professional development, and the sharing of good practice, ensuring learners receive a high quality and inclusive learning experience.
About You
You are learner focused, organised, and adaptable, with a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. You are confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Word and learner management systems, and are willing to use Teams for Education (training will be provided if required).
You are committed to continuous professional development and will complete the CPD Certificate Bronze Award within six months of appointment. You are flexible and willing to support the wider team by undertaking additional responsibilities aligned with the role, such as marketing and enrolment activities.
You will also be committed to completing all required statutory training, including Health and Safety and Data Protection, and to actively promoting the Council’s Equal Opportunities policies in your work.
Working for Haringey
At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community.
