We are seeking to appoint a Clerk to the Governing Board on a part-time, term-time only basis, for 3 hours a week, to start as soon as possible (subject to Enhanced DBS and employment checks). Candidates should be suitably experienced or willing to undertake the required training. Appropriate training and ongoing support will be provided.£1,746 annual salary, pay award pending.DutiesThe Clerk’s principal responsibility is to provide professional clerking support to the Governing Board and its committees. The key duties are as follows:Liaising with the Chair of Governors and the Headteacher in advance of each meeting to agree the agenda.Co-ordinating the collation and circulation of meeting papers within agreed timescales.Maintaining accurate records of membership, including monitoring terms of office and arranging elections or identifying replacements as required.Attending Governing Board meetings on site and producing accurate minutes and an action log within agreed timescales.Providing procedural advice and support to assist the Governing Board in meeting its statutory and regulatory responsibilities (training and support will be provided).Meetings are held on site at the school; associated administrative work is completed from home. Access to a PC or laptop is essential.Person SpecificationAvailability to attend 10-12 meetings per year, held in the afternoon (during the school day) and early evening, and to undertake additional work from home.Highly developed organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.A proactive and professional approach to work.The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Chair of Governors, the Headteacher and other key stakeholders.A courteous and professional manner.Excellent minute-taking skills, with the ability to record decisions and actions clearly and accurately.The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure and to deadlines.A high level of integrity, reliability and discretion, with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.An aptitude for researching information and identifying accurate, evidence-based responses.Competence and confidence in the use of online systems and Microsoft Office applications.Willingness to attend Local Authority briefings and training, and to work occasional additional hours as required by the Governing Board.The ability to interpret and apply guidance and procedures to support effective governance.In return, we offer a supportive working environment, a positive and proactive Governing Board, and a professional and collaborative staff team
