As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior CDM Principal Designer to join our team. The Opportunity This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CDM Principal Designer to take a leading role across a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from educational facilities and healthcare environments to aviation infrastructure, commercial developments and specialist engineering schemes. Working remotely, you will manage your own portfolio of projects while being supported by an experienced team of consultants. You will have the opportunity to build strong client relationships, influence design decisions and play a key role in improving health and safety outcomes throughout the design and construction process. The Role As a CDM Principal Designer, you will: Act as Principal Designer in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Lead and coordinate CDM duties across multiple projects and sectors. Ensure foreseeable risks are identified, eliminated where possible, and reduced through the design process. Review designs and facilitate design risk management discussions with project teams. Prepare, review and maintain Pre-Construction Information. Oversee the preparation and ongoing development of Health and Safety Files. Provide practical CDM and risk management advice to clients, designers and contractors. Chair and facilitate design review and risk workshops. Support clients in meeting their legal duties under CDM 2015 and related legislation. Contribute to the continual improvement of internal systems, procedures and service delivery. About You The successful candidate will have: Demonstrable experience acting as CDM Principal Designer on complex or multi-disciplinary construction projects. A background in architecture, engineering, surveying, building services, construction design or a related discipline. Excellent understanding of CDM 2015 and design risk management principles. Proven ability to identify, assess and communicate design and construction risks effectively. Strong report writing and documentation skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients, designers and contractors. A relevant health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent. Membership of APS, IOSH or another relevant professional body. Good understanding of UK health, safety and environmental legislation applicable to construction projects. Awareness of competency requirements under PAS 8671 and the Building Safety Act 2022. Experience using Microsoft 365 and online collaboration platforms. The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work remotely.
