Role Overview
We’re looking for talented people who are eager to contribute to vital public services and assist us to deliver taxation support to the government and local authorities. Your skills and experience will enable us to provide an efficient, effective service right at the heart of the public interest.
The Council Tax Reform Team plays a pivotal role in the HMRC Valuation Office in transforming Council Tax processes in Wales. As a Caseworker you will examine complex information and undertake detailed analysis to make accurate and informed decisions. Our caseworkers understand and apply technology to achieve efficient and effective business and personal results.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take the initiative and suggest ideas for business improvements, developing their networks and sharing feedback with others in a constructive manner.
Full training will be provided on the systems used to help your decisions and you will have the full support and guidance from your line managers.
This is a 12‑month Fixed Term Appointment, with the potential for permanency depending on business need.

100% Office attendance is required to undertake training and get comfortable with new processes. This will be expected until you complete your training to the required expectations where you will then be invited to discuss a hybrid working pattern with your manager in agreement with HMRC VO policy.
There may be a need for occasional travel across the UK with some overnight stays required to support business needs.

We are looking for people who have an interest in the property sector and who are looking for an exciting role to further their property knowledge and develop their career. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and able to thrive and work in a fast-paced environment. You will have good domestic property knowledge, with a willingness to embrace mass valuation techniques and a mathematical approach to valuing properties.

Hybrid working at HMRC

Current Civil Servants (all contract types) will need to ensure that they are still employed as a Civil Servant on or beyond the start date for the post.
