Maternity Services within NHS GGC are provided across three large maternity units with obstetric led labour suites at Queen Elizabeth University hospital (QEUH), Princess Royal Maternity (PRM) and Royal Alexandra hospital (RAH) in Paisley. We have three Community maternity units (midwife led units) in Inverclyde, Vale of Leven and RAH and are currently developing our alongside midwife units at QE and PRM. We are developing our provision of antenatal and postnatal community midwifery care across GGC and provide a dedicated homebirth team for the women of Glasgow. We have approximately 13,000 births per annum. We have well developed maternity assessment, day assessment, fetal medicine, triage and early pregnancy services across GGC, offering care to women with range of complex medical and obstetric need.

The Associate Chief Midwife is a key part of our Midwifery leadership team, working closely with the Director of Midwifery, General Manager, Clinical Directors, Consultant midwife and lead midwives to provide high quality maternity care.
The purpose of the post is to provide support to the Director of Midwifery with senior professional leadership and capacity for improving the delivery of safe, quality and effective care of women and patients receiving gynaecology and maternity care across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The post holder will work with and influence Lead Midwives and Nurses, Senior Charge Nurses and midwives and other senior clinical staff, senior managers and colleagues to build on the improvements to date, focussing on improvements in patient safety and service delivery.
There is a Permanent post and the shift pattern is Monday to Friday during office hours.
We are looking for a compassionate and credible midwifery leader, with a proven track record in providing high quality midwifery care in a range of settings. You will be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical midwifery practice. You will be educated to a Masters level.
You will have demonstrated a commitment to your ongoing professional development, with evidence of ongoing education and training. You will have a strong track record in clinical midwifery leadership and management.
You will have well developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand complex data, evaluate evidence and provide succinct presentations and reports.
The role is an integral part of our exciting next phase of implementation of our Maternity and Neonatal strategy.
We are looking for a midwifery leader with a strong clinical, management, leadership, quality improvement and academic background, with proven expertise in positive multi-disciplinary working and leadership.
You will join a positive, ambitious multi-disciplinary maternity leadership team, working closely with our Director of Midwifery, General Manager, Lead midwife for quality risk and governance and the lead midwives for each of the maternity units and community and outpatients; as well as working closely with obstetric and anaesthetic colleagues, colleagues in the equalities, clinical effectiveness and public engagement teams, to continue our journey of improvement.
