This is a key leadership role where you’ll help ensure our fleet remains safe, reliable, and ready to meet the demands of one of the world’s busiest transport networks.About The RoleAs Assistant Engineering Manager, you’ll be at the centre of our London operations—leading workshop teams, maintaining high engineering standards, and ensuring our vehicles are always ready for service.You’ll bring together technical expertise and leadership to support a fast-paced, high-demand urban network where reliability and safety are critical.What You’ll Be DoingOversee daily workshop operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and cost controlMaximise fleet availability to support consistent service across London routesEnsure rapid response to breakdowns and defects, minimising disruption in a busy city environmentMaintain high standards of repair, MOT preparation, and complianceCarry out quality audits and ensure all maintenance records are accurate and up to dateWork closely with operational teams to manage vehicle allocation and availabilityLead on Health & Safety, promoting a strong safety-first cultureSupervise, motivate, and develop your team to perform at their bestRemain hands-on when required, supporting with mechanical, electrical, and servicing workWhat We’re Looking ForStrong engineering experience in vehicle, HGV, or heavy equipment maintenanceIdeally, experience working in a high-demand, urban transport environment (London experience is a plus)A recognised engineering qualification or apprenticeship (mechanical/electrical or equivalent)Solid knowledge of Health & Safety practices (IOSH desirable)Proven leadership ability with a track record of managing and developing teamsA proactive, resilient approach suited to a fast-paced city operationWhat We OfferCompetitive salary of £63,000Full-time, permanent roleMonday–Friday day shifts (flexibility required)Excellent career progression opportunities within a major London transport operatorDedicated one-to-one mentoring and development supportAccess to training courses and professional certificationsFree bus travel for you and a nominated family memberAccess to Arriva Village – retail discounts worth up to £1,200 per year25 days holiday plus bank holidaysCompany pensionJoin UsBe part of the team that keeps London moving.
