Role Summary
The Council has corporate responsibility for ensuring SSSC fulfils the aims and objectives set by Scottish Ministers; and for promoting effective and accountable governance. The overall role of a Council Member is to provide strategic leadership and direction focused on agreed outcomes.
The successful appointee will be given a training plan, continuous support and mentorship within the Council. This includes the opportunity to participate in a ‘buddying’ programme where you will be paired up with another Council Member, allowing you to gain insight, knowledge and aid you in performing in the role.

The applicants who most closely meet the requirements being sought will be invited to the final assessment stage. The scheduled date is 20 May 2026 in Dundee.
The closing date for applications is 17:00 on Thursday 16 April 2026.
REMUNERATION AND TIME COMMITMENT
This position attracts a remuneration rate of £220 per day and Members are expected to give a commitment of a minimum of 3 days a month on council business, some of which may be in the evenings or weekends. This appointment is for 3 years commencing from early August 2026.
