ALN Teaching Assistant – Barry Full Time NEW

Educators First are working in partnership with a highly supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Barry to recruit a full-time Graduate Teaching Assistant for September.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to support looked after children and pupils who may have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

The school is looking for someone who can build positive relationships, remain calm under pressure, and become a trusted and consistent presence for young people who need support the most.

This Role Would Suit

• Recent graduates considering teaching, psychology, youth work, social work, or counselling
• Individuals with experience working with children or young people
• Sports coaches, mentors, support workers, or youth workers
• People with empathy, resilience, patience, and confidence

You do not need years of school experience, the most important thing is a genuine desire to make an impact and support young people to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

• The successful Teaching Assistant will:

Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis

• Help manage emotions, behaviour, and engagement within lessons
• Build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable learners
• Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and teaching staff
• Encourage confidence, routine, and positive outcomes for pupils
