Want to play a key role in caring for a diverse range of paddock species while also managing our on‑site staff dog kennels?If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.About The RoleAs our Paddocks & Kennels Technician, you will champion the care and development of our paddock species, such as alpacas, goats and other large mammals, as well as managing our on‑site dog kennels, which house up to six staff‑owned dogs. This unique blend of responsibilities makes the role ideal for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys building positive relationships, and loves practical animal care.You will also play a vital part in the student experience by supervising duties sessions, supporting practical lessons, and demonstrating industry‑standard skills.Key ResponsibilitiesIn This Exciting And Varied Role, You Will Maintain excellent welfare and husbandry standards across the Paddocks & Kennels section, including large mammals and dogs Manage the staff‑only dog kennels, liaising with dog owners (all college staff), organising bookings, and ensuring welfare and hygiene standards are consistently met Carry out species‑specific tasks such as shearing, hoof trimming, behavioural assessments and routine health checks Maintain paddock areas, fencing, pasture and kennels to required standards Develop enrichment schedules and training programmes to promote natural behaviours and safe handling Supervise students during duties sessions, ensuring progress, safety, and professional practice Support lecturers in practical teaching, demonstrations and setting up learning environments Assist with daily routines such as feeding, cleaning, record keeping and welfare audits Support events such as Open Days and shows, including some weekend/evening commitmentsWhat We’re Looking ForWe’d love to hear from you if you are: Experienced in animal husbandry, especially with large mammals and/or dogs Confident in behaviour monitoring, handling and safe restraint Skilled (or willing to learn) in basic estate tasks such as boundary and shelter maintenance Comfortable supervising students and supporting their practical development A strong communicator, especially when working with staff dog owners and teaching teams Enthusiastic, proactive, collaborative and adaptable Committed to high standards of welfare, safety and continuous improvementWhy Join Us?At Easton College, our values emphasise collaboration, responsibility, creativity and kindness.
