The opportunity
London College of Fashion (LCF) is looking for an experienced academic to join our BA Fashion Design Technology: Menswear course within the School of Design and Technology.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and forward-thinking course that encourages students to challenge and expand the boundaries of contemporary menswear design. The course supports learners in developing both creative and technical expertise, enabling them to articulate bold, innovative ideas while preparing for careers in the fashion industry or further postgraduate study.
As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for teaching, curriculum development and on-going scholarship on the course. You will help students use the subject of menswear to explore issues of identity, including questions of gender and non-binary expression, class, subcultural influences, faith and global cultural diversity.
Working collaboratively within an established course team, you will contribute to the ongoing development of pedagogy and curriculum direction, bringing specialist expertise that supports innovative and inclusive teaching. You will help develop learning experiences that challenge the canon of fashion education, while ensuring that the course continues to remain at the forefront of creative and professional practice.
A central part of your role will also involve offering pastoral support, monitoring progress and attendance and working closely with colleagues to help students thrive during their time at LCF.
Your profile
We are looking for a skilled academic practitioner with a relevant undergraduate degree and demonstrable experience of teaching and assessment within a higher education environment.
Strong evidence of research, teaching, knowledge exchange and/or professional practice in fashion or a closely related field is essential, along with excellent communication and organisational skills and a collaborative approach to your work.
