Assistant Accountant – Leases|Swan Valley|SSC|Replacement 1 Full Time NEW

You would be based at our Finance Shared Service Centre site in Swan Valley, Northampton.

We are on the outskirts of Northampton close to the A45, A43 and M1 with good public transport links.

This role has the potential for steady expansion and career development. We’re looking for someone who is already AAT qualified, or equivalent, and is ideally already studying ACCA or CIMA or ready to ready to start studying at this level. We will support you through the rest of your ACCA or CIMA qualification. We’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us.

We’re offering a starting salary of between £27-£33k, depending on experience with salary increasing upon completion of further ACCA or CIMA levels.

There is the possibility to offer hybrid working (office and home) after successful completion of the probation period.

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

• Review and approve long term rental invoices in Coupa
• Build and maintain a good relationship with our suppliers
• Update and maintain long term lease registers
• Recharge monthly long term fleet costs to the business
• Work to tight month end deadlines
• Update various lease reconciliations weekly & reconcile monthly
• Monthly/quarterly reporting to Group
• Ensure all costs are being recovered by the business
• Provide support and respond to any queries that arise internally
• Ensure best practices are being followed in line with company policy
• Prepare and load various monthly balance sheet reconciliations into Blackline
• Support with monthly & adhoc reporting for senior management
• Escalate any issues, obvious errors & risks to management
• Explore process improvements and assist in driving automation of processes
• Experience and knowledge will be gained through the use of a number of different IT systems
• There’s plenty of opportunity to learn more and be involved in various other tasks if you are keen to learn

What You Need To Succeed At XPO

• Already completed AAT or equivalent level and currently studying, or due to start studying ACCA (entry at applied skills or higher) or CIMA (entry at management level or higher)
• IFRS16 is desirable but not essential
• Excellent communication skills. You’ll be speaking regularly with various stakeholders, so you’ll need to be able to communicate effectively at all levels over Teams, email or in person
• A sound understanding of Microsoft packages including Excel and Outlook
• SAP knowledge is desirable but not essential
• AP experience preferable
• Be eager to learn and progress within your role and department
• Work as part of a team to achieve team/departmental goals
• Able to work to deadlines
• Have good investigative skills and great attention to detail
