About the Role
We are hiring a Chef Manager on behalf of one of our clients in the education catering sector. This role is ideal for an experienced culinary professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality, nutritious meals in a school environment while leading a kitchen team effectively.
You will oversee kitchen operations, ensure smooth service delivery, and maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the kitchen team to ensure efficient daily operations
- Prepare and serve fresh, high-quality meals using seasonal ingredients at scale
- Plan menus and ensure consistency in food quality and presentation
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and compliance standards
- Manage stock, ordering, and kitchen budgets effectively
- Liaise with on-site stakeholders and clients
- Ensure all due diligence and regulatory requirements are met
- Create a positive and productive kitchen environment
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Shift timings: Approximately 6:30/7:00 AM – 3:30/4:00 PM
- 42.5 hours per week
- 42 working weeks per year (term time + inset days + additional weeks)
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: £31,000 per annum
- Performance-based bonus (up to 10%)

Candidate Profile
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Chef Manager or in a similar leadership role
- Experience cooking fresh, seasonal food in high volumes
Skills:
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Knowledge of food safety and compliance standards
- Ability to manage kitchen operations and client relationships
Work Environment
- School-based kitchen setting
- Daytime hours with no evening or weekend shifts
