Chatteris Tutors are placed full-time in local Hong Kong schools to help raise students’ English language proficiency. Through progressive interactions which enhance the English language environment, tutors motivate students to learn and use English every day.
Our tutors inspire young minds by collaborating with local English teaching staff to plan and deliver exciting and engaging lessons. About The Organisation
Chatteris Educational Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organisation that has been working in partnership with local schools in Hong Kong since 1990. We provide English development programmes which give students the opportunity to learn English in a fun and interactive way, promoting cultural exchange and developing diverse young leaders with a global vision.
We are particularly committed to supporting less privileged students. By enhancing the English language proficiency and confidence of these students, Chatteris bridges the language skill gap that many are faced with, providing them with increased independence, employment opportunities, and a pathway to achieving a brighter future.
Chatteris provides an opportunity for international graduates to gain work experience in a public school setting in Hong Kong and contribute to our charitable mission of raising the English proficiency and self-confidence of Hong Kong’s young people, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds.
As we do not require applicants to possess teaching qualifications or have prior teaching experience, all new tutors will be required to attend up to three weeks of unpaid training upon their arrival in Hong Kong. This training is designed to equip them with basic teaching skills and prepare them for their school placements. Please note that free accommodation is provided during the entire period of orientation, and lunches are provided on all office training days.
Additionally, a deposit of 2,000 HKD is required to secure each tutor’s place on the programme. As a charitable organisation, we are unable to absorb the upfront recruitment and onboarding costs for all participants. However, please note that upon successful completion of the programme, each tutor will receive a full reimbursement of their deposit.
