It is an exciting time for an experienced HR Adviser to join our team, as we are currently undergoing significant and dynamic transformational changes. These developments present unique opportunities for growth, innovation, and the advancement of our People & Culture Directorate. As we navigate this period of transformation, new team members will play a vital role in shaping the future of our organisation and contributing to a forward-thinking environment that supports progress and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will provide advice and guidance to both managers and staff, ensuring clarity and consistency in the application and interpretation of organisational policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will encompass matters relating to terms and conditions of service, employee relations, and employment legislation. You will also be involved in supporting managers in conducting investigations, always ensuring that your advice and support adhere to Once for Scotland policies, NHS Fife policies, relevant employment legislation, and recognised best practice standards.
You will have the opportunity to support our new HR Service Desk and enquiry portal. This involvement will allow you to support managers and staff in accessing timely and accurate HR information, guidance, and assistance.
To thrive in this position, you must bring a proven track record of operating effectively at a comparable level within the HR field. Strong communication skills are crucial, enabling you to clearly convey information and guidance to both managers and staff. Sound interpersonal skills are essential for building positive working relationships and navigating diverse workplace dynamics. In addition, experience of working in a multi-unionised organisation in the public sector and ideally in the NHS and of partnership working would be advantageous.
You should be educated to degree level or demonstrate an equivalent level of experience within an operational HR position. Ideally applicants should either hold, or be actively working towards, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) membership. This combination of education and professional development ensures the necessary foundation for contributing effectively to the team and meeting the demands of the HR Adviser position.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.
We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.
As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK websitehere.
For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be foundhere.
It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsoredBEFORE submitting your application form.
