Management Accountant – Financial Services Full Time

My client is an entrepreneurial Alternative lender focussing on Construction and Term loans across the UK and Europe.

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our finance team. This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified accountant with experience in financial services, who can manage both strategic reporting and day-to-day finance operations. You will be working with our External Accountants.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and oversee all financial transactions
• Process and manage payroll & pensions (statutory, NEST), ensuring full compliance with UK regulations
• Manage staff expenses, including review, reconciliation and submission for approval
• Calculate and administer staff bonuses and commission structures
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies
• Oversee statutory payments, including maternity pay, sick pay, and other employee entitlements
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decision-making
• Assist with year-end accounts and liaise with external accountant
• Ensure compliance with financial controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
• Continuously improve financial processes and systems

Required Skills & Experience

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or AAT qualified)
• 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience in a similar role
• Previous experience within financial services is preferred
• Strong working knowledge of UK payroll, including statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
• Proven experience in bookkeeping, reconciliations, and management accounting
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of NL and DE payroll/shadow payroll
• Familiarity with systems such as Sage, Xero, or similar
• Experience working in a fast-paced or SME environment

Salary: up to £70k plus bonus

Location: London (4 days in the office / 1 day based at home)
