Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Hospitality and Catering to join our Catering and Hospitality department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

• Teaching, Learning & Student Achievement – Deliver high‑quality teaching across a range of programmes and levels, supporting students to achieve success and realise their full potential.
• Curriculum Delivery & Innovation – Plan and deliver up‑to‑date schemes of work, develop engaging learning materials and contribute proactively to curriculum development and innovation.
• Assessment, Progress & Quality Assurance – Assess and verify student work to awarding body standards, monitor progress, maintain accurate records and contribute to quality processes and course reviews.
• Student Support & Enrichment – Manage learner behaviour, support individual needs, facilitate tutorials and enhance learning through employer links, work experience and enrichment activities.
• Professional Practice & College Contribution – Complete administrative tasks accurately, participate in recruitment and marketing activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and college values across all activities.

About You

• Qualifications & Industry Expertise – Level 3+ qualification in Hospitality and Catering, Food Safety Level 2, GCSE English and maths, with strong industry experience across hospitality, catering and travel & tourism.
• Teaching, Assessment & Curriculum Delivery – Experience delivering and assessing Level 1–3 programmes, adapting teaching approaches, marking across awarding bodies and engaging learners effectively in group settings.
• Sector Knowledge & Professional Practice – Up‑to‑date understanding of hospitality and travel industries, with front‑of‑house expertise and proven ability to deliver high‑quality training and learner outcomes.
• Communication, Organisation & Teamwork – Strong communication and organisational skills, able to meet deadlines, work collaboratively, promote the College’s reputation and contribute positively to team success.
• Values, Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to equality, safeguarding and health & safety, maintaining professional boundaries, delivering an inclusive learner experience, and working flexibly across College locations.
