We are seeking a Grade 5 Research Technician to join our team investigating drug resistance in helminth parasites. The project is a collaboration amongst several European partners who are collectively aiming to define the molecular mechanisms underlying triclabendazole resistance in the liver fluke parasite, Fasciola hepatica. Infection with liver fluke impacts on the health and welfare of sheep and cattle and passes through a snail intermediate host during its life cycle.
You will be tasked with providing specialist support for the project by detecting infection in sheep through performing faecal egg counts, collect eggs from faecal material for molecular analyses and maintain our snail colony for the passage of liver fluke isolates. We are looking for a highly motivated and interested individual to join our Veterinary Parasitology research group in IIVES. The project will be supervised by Professor Jane Hodgkinson on the Liverpool University Leahurst campus, based on the Wirral.
You should have a BTec Higher Level or equivalent and have previous experience of working in a bioscience laboratory.
The post is available full time (35 hours per week) for up to 1 year. The preferred start date is 1st June 2026.
