Medical WriterReports to the Senior or Principal Medical WriterJob SummaryMedical content development encompasses a range of deliverables including strategy/ planning, conferences, advisory boards, and interactive content. This is a fantastic role, working with on a team that partners with a growing portfolio of leading pharma clients across rare disease and oncology therapeutic areas.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesEnsuring that quality control is paramount within all materials produced across the businessDeveloping written materials (for subsequent review by Lead / Senior Medical Writer) in line with client requirements (internal/external), timelines, Open Health Medical Communications editorial policy, ABPI Code of Practice and key product messagesMay include editing as well as writingEnsuring all written material is:Appropriately pitchedOn brief when deliveredDelivered on timeFully referenced and, where applicable, abides by the ABPI Code of PracticeAttending conferences / advisory board meetings with Lead / Senior Medical Writer and develop first draft of report for reviewCoordinating effectively and efficiently with appropriate members of the Open Health Medical Communications teamEnsuring line manager and accounts team, where appropriate, are continually updated on project progressDeveloping an understanding of the various client brand and disease areasUndertaking or directing research into therapy areas, as neededLiaising with authors / advisors (including attending face-to-face meetings), with the support of a Lead / Senior Medical WriterExperience, Skills, And QualificationsExperience as an Associate Medical Writer or Medical Writer in a medcomms, healthcare agency or pharma environment Thorough understanding of the client’s therapeutic area and ability to provide strategic inputStrong understanding of science and medicine, the healthcare environment and the medical education/communications industryManager, trainer, delegatorStrong leadership skillsApproachabilitySignificant experience in a healthcare agency or pharmaceutical company roleExcellent project management and analytical skillsFinancial acumenAbility to multitask and prioritise; excellent time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsAttention to detailAble to work independently and as part of a teamCompetent in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OutlookSound understanding of the ABPI Code of PracticeTravel RequirementsAs required by business needs
