Hospital Waste PorterLocation: NorthamptonHours: Monday to Friday, 7am – 3pmPay: Band 2 (£12.71 per hour)About the RoleWe are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Waste Porter to join their Waste & Recycling team. This is an important frontline role supporting the safe, efficient movement and disposal of waste across a busy hospital environment.You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality service to wards and departments, ensuring all waste streams are handled safely, compliantly, and in line with environmental legislation.Key ResponsibilitiesCollect, transport, and dispose of clinical, hazardous, and general waste, as well as laundry, across the siteEnsure correct segregation, handling, and storage of all waste typesExchange sharps containers and manage confidential and condemned wasteOperate equipment such as electric tugs, compactors, and balers (full training provided)Maintain cleanliness and organisation of waste storage areas and external zonesComplete all required documentation in line with legal and organisational requirementsReport faults, hazards, or maintenance issues promptlyWork collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and external contractorsSupport continuous improvement within the waste and recycling serviceAbout YouThe ideal candidate will be reliable, hardworking, and able to work effectively in a physically demanding role within a fast-paced environment.You will have:The ability to carry out manual handling tasks (lifting, pushing, pulling)Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a teamA proactive approach with the ability to follow instructions and work independentlyStrong awareness of health and safety practicesThe ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressureTraining & RequirementsFull training will be providedFlexibility to work across different areas as requiredCommitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and professionalismWillingness to complete mandatory training and complete all vetting checksAdditional InformationThis role is subject to a DBS check and sufficient compliance documentation being completed.
