About the Facilities Team:
Our dedicated team works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that every corner of our facilities is in top-notch condition, ready to host thrilling matches and memorable events.
From managing the upkeep of our stadium and training grounds to overseeing logistics for game days, we are committed to excellence in every detail.
The Opportunity:
As a Groundperson, it is your responsibility to ensure our facilities are maintained to the highest standards across all sites. In this role, you will be responsible for grounds maintenance and the upkeep of amenity areas surrounding the Academy. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary maintenance team, seamlessly transitioning between dedicated sites based on the needs of the business. Your responsibilities will include driving various machinery, such as gang mowers, verti-drain equipment, and tractors, all of which will be conducted following relevant training and certification.
Additionally, you will engage in tasks essential for maintaining the aesthetic and functional quality of our grounds, including litter collection, weeding of curb lines and plant beds, and assisting with pitch maintenance at the Stadium of Light and Hetton reserve grounds as needed. After completing training, you will be expected to carry out multiple tasks independently, adhering to your limits of responsibility. Your contributions will extend to mowing, topdressing, marking out, and pitch preparation on matchdays, including divoting at half-time and full-time, ensuring our facilities are always ready for action. Join our team and help us create an exceptional environment for our athletes and visitors!
What We Ask For:
This position requires a resilient individual ready to work outdoors in all weather conditions. You must possess relevant qualifications in grounds maintenance or groundskeeping, along with proven experience working effectively within a grounds team. A solid understanding of health and safety practices is essential, as is knowledge of COSHH regulations to ensure safe handling of chemicals and materials.
Additionally, you will need hands-on experience with various grounds machinery, including mowers, verti-drain equipment, and tractors. Appropriate certification for operating mowing machinery in compliance with current Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation is a must. While a valid driving licence is desirable, your ability to navigate and operate machinery safely and efficiently will be key to succeeding in this role. Join us in creating a well-maintained environment that enhances the experience for our athletes and visitors alike!
