ICAP, part of TP ICAP group, provides a wide variety of execution and information services to wholesale market participants.
We offer broking services covering a wide range of asset classes, including Commodities, Credit, Equities, FX, Money Market Funds and Rates.
For each asset class, ICAP offers e-trading capability, giving clients the option to enter prices and execute trades directly via one of our hybrid electronic trading systems, or to engage with brokers who can identify and negotiate trades
Role Overview
This is an exciting entry-level opportunity to begin a career in front‑office financial markets within TP ICAP’s Credit business. As a Trainee Broker on the Euro Financials desk, you will receive structured on‑the‑job training and gain extensive exposure to fast‑paced global markets, working closely with highly experienced brokers and institutional clients. The role is ideally suited to a bright, motivated, and commercially curious individual who thrives in dynamic environments, can think on their feet, and enjoys working both autonomously and collaboratively within a small, high‑performing team.
The Euro Financials desk focuses on the trading and intermediation of credit products issued by European financial institutions, including banks, insurers, and other financial entities. These products may include bonds, credit derivatives, and related instruments across the capital structure. The desk plays a critical role in:
Facilitating liquidity between institutional counterparties
Providing price discovery and market colour to clients
Supporting risk transfer and balance sheet management for financial institutions
Interpreting macro‑economic, regulatory, and issuer‑specific developments impacting European financial credit markets
You will gain first‑hand exposure to how macro‑economic trends (interest rates, monetary policy, regulation) and micro‑level issuer fundamentals influence pricing, risk appetite, and trading strategies across European credit markets.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day‑to‑day operational and commercial support to brokers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the desk.
Develop a strong understanding of the credit products traded within Euro Financials, including market conventions and trade lifecycle.
Monitor market movements, news flow, and macro‑economic developments relevant to European financial issuers.
Deliver live market quotes to traders and clients via messaging systems and trading platforms.
Assist in identifying potential trade opportunities and relative value strategies.
Accurately capture, calculate, and relay trade details and market information to brokers and clients on a daily basis.
Maintain high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Act as a positive ambassador for TP ICAP Group, promoting its values and reputation with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience & Competencies
Essential
Foundational knowledge of Credit markets, financial products, and investment strategies.
Demonstrated interest in financial markets and economic drivers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High attention to detail, with the ability to interpret and translate data clearly.
Proven ability to perform under pressure in a fast‑moving, commercially driven environment.
Proven analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
High ethical standards and a commitment to responsible client service and market conduct.
Desired
Additional European language skills (written and spoken).
Familiarity with financial software, market data platforms, or trading systems.
Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Demonstrable interest in macro‑ and micro‑economic trends, particularly in Europe.
