Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.We are looking for Donor Carer Venepuncturists to join our existing teams who provide a high standard of care to our donors.The CandidateYou should be friendly, enjoy meeting people and be willing to work as part of a team. You’ll enjoy a varied role which includes caring for donors throughout the blood donation process from reception and welcome, health screening, obtaining blood samples, blood collection and donor safety and wellbeing. This post involves set up of community donation sessions with a requirement to pull/push cages or trolleys of equipment without mechanical aid of up to 60kg 2 people. Full training is provided in all aspects of the role.Knowledge of health care or other customer focused environments is essential. Standard keyboard skills are essential as are good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency. Details of how to apply for, or to update, PVG Scheme membership/Disclosure will be supplied to successful candidates.Location and Working Pattern:The post is based within the Donor Services Blood Collection Team which is based in Edinburgh; however extensive travel throughout the region of South East of Scotland is required.The work pattern for the post is Monday to Sunday, 28 hours per week.You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours.
