We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday/On callThis is a Fixed term post for 12 MonthsThis is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and proactive doctors to join our expanding General Medicine team at IRH for the August 2026 intake. As well as gaining invaluable general medicine experience you will be able to work closely with a specialty team. This could be Critical Care, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Rheumatology or General Medicine depending on personal interest. You will be an integral member of the IRH medical team and will have an excellent environment to develop knowledge, clinical skills and experience in progression in all aspects of general medicine with acute medical receiving and out-patient experience. You will work with the MDT within the ward and out-patient environment.The successful candidate will be allocated an educational and clinical supervisor. A personal development plan (PDP) for the duration of the post will be agreed, and SMART educational goals will be identified. The successful candidate will have excellent opportunities to develop knowledge and clinical skills in General Medicine and their chosen specialty.There are 2 Consultants and 1 Specialty doctor in Diabetes and Endocrinology, 4 Consultants and 1 specialty doctor in Rheumatology, 3 Cardiologists and a specialty doctor in Cardiology, 2 respiratory Consultants and one acute medical consultant and specialist doctor for Acute Medicine. Each department has a full multidisciplinary team and a wide range of sub-specialty interests. The successful Clinical Fellows will be given full support to develop skills in each specialty in addition to general medicine. There will be opportunities to contribute to teaching of medical students and peers in addition to quality improvement work.
