Job Title: IT Systems Engineer Overview An opportunity has arisen for a proactive and values-driven IT Systems Engineer to design, secure, and maintain business-critical systems across multiple environments.The role supports two distinct operational areas:A secure enterprise transcription service environment with dedicated infrastructure, requiring compliance with industry standards such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and Cyber EssentialsA wider organisational environment, including an education settingWhile the primary focus will be on the enterprise environment, priorities may shift based on business needs, requiring collaboration with internal IT teams to provide technical expertise and support. Salary £41,885 £51,717 per annum (depending on qualifications, knowledge, and experience) Working Hours 37 hours per week, year-roundWorking hours scheduled between 7:00am and 7:00pmParticipation in out-of-hours emergency support (including evenings and weekends) as required Interview Date Monday 11 May 2026 Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain secure IT systems and infrastructureManage and support: Backup infrastructureNetwork infrastructure, including segmentationServer environments (Hyper-V, Windows, Linux)Cloud services (e.g. identity and productivity platforms)On-premises systems (Active Directory, SIEM, print, access control, CCTV) Perform hardware lifecycle management, including installations, upgrades, patching, and security hardeningManage software licensing and ensure complianceApply cyber security best practices across systems and servicesConduct vulnerability assessments and implement patch management processesContribute to maintaining compliance with recognised standards (e.g. PCI DSS, ISO 27001)Produce clear technical documentation and operational guidanceCollaborate with stakeholders across operations, security, and audit functionsSupport high-availability systems and respond effectively to incidents Essential Criteria Relevant industry certifications (e.g. MSP, Security+, CCNA, Palo Alto or equivalent)Minimum 5 years experience in systems engineering or infrastructure rolesStrong hands-on experience across networks, servers, cloud, and on-premises environmentsPractical knowledge of cyber security principles, including: SIEMIdentity and access managementEncryption protocols (TLS, certificates)Endpoint protectionVulnerability and patch management Understanding of PCI DSS and ISO 27001 frameworksStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a security-first mindsetAbility to translate technical standards into practical, automated solutionsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience managing stakeholder relationships across multiple functionsSelf-motivated with the ability to take ownership and work in high-availability environmentsCommitment to equality, diversity, and inclusionFlexible approach to working hours, including out-of-hours supportFull UK driving licence and access to a vehicle Additional Information This role requires flexibility, accountability, and a strong commitment to maintaining secure, resilient, and compliant IT systems in a dynamic environment.
